The words, in plain English.

What each word means on Synthicate, in a sentence or two. Every term has its own link, so you can send just one.

AI creator
A character made with AI that posts on social media and takes brand deals. Every creator on Synthicate is one, and it’s labelled AI on every card, page and offer.
AI-generated label
The platform’s own label for content made with AI. Every sponsored post carries it, and the studio ticks that it’s on when it sends the live link.
Application
A studio asking to join an open brief with a creator that meets its filters. The brand accepts, counters or declines it, as it would an offer.
Blocked category
A kind of product that can’t be advertised on Synthicate at all, such as alcohol or gambling. A product pack can’t be made for one.
Brand
A business with a product to show. A brand adds products, each with a product pack, and books creators to post about them.
Brief
What a brand asks a creator to make, in its own words, kept on the product pack. The brief checker reads it as it’s typed.
Brief checker
Flags lines in a brief that would make a creator sound like a real customer, such as “I’ve been using” or “before and after”, and suggests a rewrite. Such a brief can’t go out until it’s rewritten; a health claim or guarantee only warns.
Changes
What a brand asks for after reviewing a draft, up to 2 rounds a deal. After that, the brand approves the draft or raises a problem.
Cooling
A weekly state, shown ▼: this week’s views are 20% or more below last week’s.
Counter
An answer to an offer or an application with a different price. It hands the turn to the other side and starts the 7 days to answer again.
Deal
One creator, one deliverable and one price, between a brand and a studio. Everything after it starts, from the payment to the live post, runs through its thread.
Deliverable
The one thing a deal pays for: a TikTok video, an Instagram Reel, a YouTube Short or a set of three Instagram stories.
Draft
The video the studio makes against the product pack and sends in the deal’s thread. The brand has 5 days to review it; after that, it counts as approved.
Engagement
Likes, comments and shares for each view, over the last 28 days. It’s 30% of the grade, and 10% or more scores full marks.
Fee
15% of a deal’s price, from the studio’s side, fixed when the deal is agreed. The brand pays the price and nothing on top.
First-hand testimonial
A line saying the creator used the product itself. A creator that doesn’t exist can’t have used anything, so these are out.
Grade
A to D, from the last 28 days: reach (50%), engagement (30%) and posting (20%). A dash until there are 14 days of data.
Held payment
The brand’s payment for a deal, made once both sides agree. It’s held by the payment provider, not sent, until the post has been live for 72 hours.
New
A weekly state, shown ✦: under 14 days of data, so there’s no grade yet.
Offer
A price for one deliverable, sent by a brand to a creator that meets the brief’s filters. The studio has 7 days to accept, counter or decline it.
Open brief
A brief a brand opens to every studio, with a price per creator, a number of slots and the filters a creator has to meet. Studios apply with a creator; any other brief reaches a creator as an offer.
Pack version
A locked product pack never changes: editing it makes the next version. Each deal keeps the version it agreed to.
Posting
Posts in the last 28 days, against 24. It’s 20% of the grade, and about six a week is full marks.
Problem
What either side raises when a deal goes wrong: before the post is live, or, for the brand, within 72 hours after. The money stays held until it’s settled.
Product pack
The brand’s product written down for an AI video model: every side of it, its colours and the exact words on the pack. A brand builds one in six steps, then locks it.
Reach
Median views a post over the last 28 days, on a log scale. It’s 50% of the grade, and the median means one viral post can’t make an A.
Refund
The held money going back to the brand in full: when the deal is cancelled before the first draft, or when a problem is settled for the brand.
Release
When the held money is paid out: the price less the fee, to the studio. It happens when the brand confirms the live post, or 72 hours after it goes live if no problem is raised.
Rising
A weekly state, shown ▲: this week’s views are 20% or more above last week’s.
Roster
A studio’s creators on one wall, each with its grade, its weekly state and its last 20 posts.
Sandbox payments
Payments run in a sandbox for now: every screen and number is real except the money. It records exactly what the payment provider will do, without moving any.
Self-reported
A number a studio logged or imported itself. Synthicate checks that a deal’s live post exists and is the creator’s, but it can’t check views, so every number keeps the mark.
Slot
One creator’s place on an open brief. Once every slot is agreed, the brief takes no new offers or applications.
Stalled
A weekly state, shown ■: no post in the last 7 days.
Steady
A weekly state, shown ●: this week’s views are less than 20% above or below last week’s.
Studio
The people who make and run AI creators. A studio owns its creators, posts for them on its own accounts, and is paid for their deals.
Thread
The record of one deal: every message, draft, change and move, the same for both sides. Nothing on it is deleted.
Waiting on you
Every move that needs you next, counted in the app. Deals have timers, so it can’t be switched off.
Weekly state
Which way a creator is heading, from this week’s views against last week’s: rising, steady, cooling, stalled or new. Each has a shape and a word as well as a colour.
